We now know what really went wrong with Cats
Not all cats have nine lives.
It might seem dramatic to declare director Tom Hooper's Cats as an utter disaster, but at this point, the facts are indisputable.
A Reddit thread populated by alleged VFX technicians for the film reveals what happened — and apparently we can place blame on impossible deadlines, unrealistic CGI demands, and poor decisions by Hooper.
Now, some context has been provided for what went wrong behind the scenes on Cats, courtesy of the film’s different VFX teams.
*Tom Hooper after the first trailer asked Technicolor for MPC to finish his movie. I heard he was very angry about Mill Film and basically fired them in the end of the production, and MPC had in their hands at least 10 months of work to do in 2. Some assets/sets had to be done completely from the dust. I saw some things that I will never forget. I cant understand how things got to that point. I dont want to blame Mill Film, I was not there afterall, I dont know what happened. But the quality of the assets that we received were horrendous.
